PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS

Expectations:

This hands-on eco-expedition strives to build personal confidence, group cohesiveness, and leadership skills, all crews are expected to work together to accomplish all aspects of the trip.  Weasel Creek Watershed Expeditions provides equipment and expertise to help guide the trip through this exciting and educational experience.  There are several key expectations that all crews must have accomplished prior to arrival:

  • Swimming:  All participants must be able to swim at least 100 yards with 75 using a front stroke and 25 using a resting backstroke.
  • Medical:  All participants must have a physician-signed camp medical form stating that they are healthy enough to participate.

Sailing:

The crew will take an active role in sailing, navigating, and standing watches while underway. Weasel Creek Watershed Expeditions' Captain and Mate will teach basic sailing, navigation, and other shipboard operations.  

Meals: 

Weasel Creek Watershed Expeditions will provide ingredients, cooking gear, and utensils, the crew will plan and prepare meals utilizing the ingredients provided.

  •  Nutition information will be collected on registration form to account for any dietary restrictions. 

Drop Off: Parents and sailors will meet the boat at Oyster Farm Marina at 2 pm on Sunday. You will have time to meet the Captain and Crew, youth will secure belongings on the boat, and begin with a safety briefing before dinner. The parents will depart and the sailors will prepare to head out the following morning for a week on the Chesapeake Bay. 

Pick Up: Sailors will be picked up at Oyster Farm Marina by 12 pm on Friday. We encourage parents to come down to the dock early to catch up with their sailor and see what they have learned over their week on the Chesapeake Bay.
